Fox oil painting for sale
My original fox oil painting is now available for sale. Sold unframed, on gallery-wrapped canvas, so he is ready to hang immediately. The colours are stunning, teal, turquoise, purple and green creating a Twilight atmosphere. Tiny touches of these colours are reflected in his watchful eyes.
This painting was created from many layers,first of acrylic followed by oil paint. This gives a very deep and vibrant glow to the piece. And because of these layers, the painting looks different according to the light.

Painting Demonstration at The Atkins Building
I had a wonderful day at the gallery this week, painting a sheep in oils, and chatting to all of the lovely visitors. Fiona Marks was also in attendance, telling the stories behind her beautiful paintings that feature important women in history. We enjoyed it so much that we are going to do it again on the 19th Dec! This lovely little man found the perfect new home, with a visitor to the gallery last weekend.Ill be taking along some new paintings ready for the gallery open weekend in December.2nd and 3rd.
If you want to go along, you wont be disappointed. The gallery is always very warm and welcoming, with a roaring fire in the colder months. Helen’s Tearoom is part of the gallery and she always bakes a huge selection of cakes, including vegan and gf.
There is always a good selection of new artisan work to browse,. Downstairs you will find an array of carefully sourced furniture and assorted nice things, plus seasonal floral arrangements.

A Stampede of Colourful Highland Cows!
Here are some of the photos from our lovely Highland Cow painting workshop at the weekend. The gallery is a wonderful space in which to relax and paint, with plenty of artistic inspiration all around! Everybody did terrifically well and got on like a house on fire too!

Learning to Paint a Rainbow Highland Cow!
Today is my painting workshop at the gallery Creative Melbourne, in Melbourne Derbyshire. I set up the space yesterday afternoon so that all of the easels and canvases etc are ready to go when we all arrive this morning. We shall be making very vivid Highland Cow paintings I am sure, as Im taking 26 different colour tubes of paint including some sparkly pearlised paints. It will be a small group of six, today painting up in the mezzanine gallery, which is a lovely space to work in, above the art gallery itself which fills two floors below.
Spare Cake
I have baked two cakes for the occasion. Partially because I’m never sure my cake will rise! So I did a ‘spare’ and they both rose beautifully so now we have two. ‘Spare cake’ is surely one of the happiest phrases in the English language.
A Big Hairy Beast
We will be basing our painting loosely on this big colourific chap above, although each piece will be as unique as the artist who paints it. We typically have at least two or three total beginners in my workshops, which is always exciting. I haven’t met any of the artists joining me today, so I will find out about experience levels once everyone arrives. Some attendees are coming from a little farther afield today, so I hope everyone has had a nice journey to get here. I will post photos from the day’s activities later on.

It’s nearly time for the unique Melbourne Arts and Architecture Trail. I’m happy to be taking part again this year! In fact, I am once again being kindly hosted by the Pierre Hourlier Wine Shop, near Melbourne Hall. I recommend using the Park and Ride service that they organise, as parking around the streets of the village itself gets fraught early in the day. There are two park-and-ride car parks, Tori & Ben’s Farm Shop at Kings Newton DE73 8DD or Melbourne Schools in Packhorse Road DE73 8JE
The wine shop is a great venue, part of the Melbourne Hall Craft complex, and I’m looking forward to spending a couple of days there meeting visitors and showing my new work. Here are a couple of snaps from last year’s event.
