Join professional artist Susan Gardner for a relaxed, encouraging weekly art class designed to help you build confidence, develop your skills, and enjoy the creative process, whether you're just beginning or looking to loosen up and explore new techniques.
These friendly, supportive sessions are ideal for:
🎨 Beginners wanting to learn to draw and paint
🎨 Artists feeling stuck or in need of fresh inspiration
🎨 Those who want to improve draftsmanship, explore colour, or experiment with media
🎨 Anyone wanting a regular, sociable creative outlet
Classes will cover key areas such as drawing, composition, colour mixing, use of different media (pencil, ink, acrylic, oils, etc.), working from life and imagination, and freeing up your personal painting style. Each term will unfold in response to students’ needs and goals, with plenty of guidance and encouragement along the way.
☕ There’s a break for coffee, biscuits and a chat halfway through – it’s as much about the community as the canvas!
Practical Info
Location: Heather Village Hall (David Taylor Memorial Hall)
Time: Thursdays, 1 pm-3 pm (starting 5th September)
Group Size: Limited to 12 students to ensure personal attention
Cost: £12 per session, payable monthly in advance by standing order
Rolling Course: This is a rolling course that runs on a half-yearly basis, like a night school class: you’re signing up for a place in the group over a 6-month block, but to keep things simple, payments are made monthly by standing order/Stripe.
This means your spot is held whether or not you can attend every week; it helps me cover hall costs and plan confidently. You're always welcome to stop attending at the end of any month if life changes.
If I ever need to cancel a class, you’ll be refunded for that session.
Missed Classes: Fees secure your place and are non-refundable for missed sessions (e.g. holidays), but if the tutor has to cancel, that session will be refunded
Materials: Basic supplies will be provided for the first two weeks. After that, students will receive a recommended materials list and are encouraged to bring their own
Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to it after years away, you're very welcome. Come along and rediscover the joy of making art in a fun, pressure-free environment.
